Katoomba Permaculture Property
The owner has focussed on creating a low tech sustainable house by retrofitting an existing brick veneer house for very little cost.
While she has purchased solar panels, a quantum heat pump water heater and water tanks, almost everything else has been created using recycled locally sourced items. She has added windows for solar gain, recycles greywater using a pond system and allows very little waste to leave her property, even during renovations.
Her permaculture based design aims have included producing food for her own consumption, increasing biodiversity and habitat for wildlife, dramatically reducing her energy and water consumption and returning water to the watertable as well as creating a beautiful and pleasant living environment.
