Sustainable Community House

by benfam one(August 2011) (rank 500+)

The Vermont South Community House has recently installed a 4.9kW grid connected solar PV system with a fully optioned display monitor in the entrance foyer that provides “real time” information about many parameters.

The Community House is fortunate to have a North facing aspect which allows the 27 X 180W Schott panels to be located most efficiently.

The Community House will showcase kitchen garden initiatives, a worm farm, water tanks, as well as displaying a drip watering system, Whitehorse City Council sustainability information, and the opportunity learn about environmentally friendly products.

Vermont South Community House was the winner of the Whitehorse Sustainable Community Award in 2008 and a finalist in 2009 and 2010. T

ours of the House will be conducted frequently by people vitally interested in sustainable living practices.
