Joseph De Losa Design Build, jddb, is a Ballarat based sustainable, energy efficient design and construction company.
Construction is presently nearing completion at our current display home in the new Sailors Gully estate in Mt.Clear, 3 km's from the heart of Ballarat.
The display home incorporates passive solar design, passive heating through a heatstack on the northern wall and cooling through cross ventilation, as well as a state of the art heat recovery system which effectively utilises the natural heating and cooling properties of the home to maintain a consistent year round temperature for very minimal cost.
The home is solar powered with a separate solar hot water system and features double-glazing and non-toxic finishes throughout. We have incorporated rainwater catchment and tanks into the design as well as laying the foundation for the future construction of a permaculture herb/veggie garden watered by grey water systems and a small orchard.
The home even has a cellar to store home produce! The home is constructed from Thermacell insulated concrete formwork, I.C.F’s, possessing excellent thermal properties.
...We aim to convince the consumer that not only are sustainable homes affordable but they are also attractive, functional and definitely the homes of the future. The home is now open for public viewing and for sale. This is the first display home of its kind in Ballarat and we are anticipating a great response from consumers preparing to build their new home and curious about sustainability options.
We hope the home will attract large numbers of consumers passing through due to its unique construction. We hope that you enjoy your tour of the jddb sustainable display home.
