Sustainable House Day 2010 Deloraine Primary School Tas

In 2009 Deloraine Primary School installed a 6.4kw solar array through the Solar Schools Program. During 2010 the array generated 11Mw of electricity. 2Mw above expectations.

Initiatives:-

  • 120000L of storm water tanks, harvesting and reuse through school toilets, which can also be used to irrigate the sports oval.
     
  • 6.4kw Solar Installation on the Hall roof which generates aprox 10 Mwh/year.This is Part of the ‘National Solar Schools Program”.
     
  • Energy consumption and generation monitoring equipment as part of the solar installation.
     
  • Energy efficient design for the new Hall., including natural light, insulation, passive cross ventilation & energy efficient heating.
     
  • Composting of all green waste in the new school vegetable garden.
     
  • Installation of Golime energy tracking software to monitor energy consumption and generation.
     
  • Energy efficiency education programmes for students and staff.
